Royal International Miniature Horse Classes – Judge Sophia Lightbrown
These classes are affiliated to the British Miniature Horse Society (BMHS), all classes will be run
under their rules. Only registered horses owned by a BMHS member may enter. Owners, handlers and exhibitors must be current members of the British Miniature Horse Society and have paid the appropriate BMHS 2026 Showing Levy.
These classes are qualifiers for the Royal International Horse Show, the first placed horse only in each class will qualify, or if already qualified the next highest placed unqualified horse down to fifth place will qualify.
Horses must be in possession of a 2026 measuring certificate (as per BMHS Showing Declaration form) or if not, must be measured for any qualification to remain valid.
Height limits for all classes are as follows:-
Mini (small) Midi (standard)
4 years old and over 82cms 87cms
3 years old 81cms 86cms
2 years old 79cms 84cms
Yearlings 77cms 82cms
Class 1 – Royal International Miniature Horse, 3 years old and over fully licensed stallion. 3 year olds not exceeding 86 cms, 4 year olds and over not exceeding 87 cms.
Class 2 – Royal International Miniature Horse, 3 years old and over mare. 3 year olds not exceeding 86 cms, 4 year olds and over not exceeding 87 cms.
Class 3 – Royal International Miniature Horse, 3 years old and over gelding. 3 year olds not exceeding 86cms, 4 year olds and over not exceeding 87 cms.
Class 4 – Royal International Miniature Horse, 2 year old colt, filly or gelding. Not exceeding 84 cms
Class 5 – Royal International Miniature Horse, yearling colt, filly or gelding. Not exceeding 82 cms.
Class 6 – Royal International Mini Miniature Horse, yearlings and above. Must be the correct ‘mini’ height for their age.
Championship for 1st and 2nd prize winners from the above classes.
The overall champion is eligible to compete in the Champion of Champions class at the British Miniature Horse Society Breed Show.

Class 15 – In Hand Unusual Coloured – Palamino, dun, spotted. – Horse/pony any height and age.

Class 25 – Riding Club Horse – Over 14.2hh, jump no bigger than 70cm. Open to all breeds.
Class 26 – In Hand Welsh D – Shown in natural state and pure bred only. Pony any age
Class 27 – In Hand Welsh C – Shown in natural state and pure bred only. Pony any age
Class 28 – In Hand Show Pony/Horse. Horse/pony any height and age.
Class 29 – In Hand Sports Horse Type. Horse/pony any height and age.
Class 30 – In Hand ROR. Horses to be 142cm and above. Open to all ages.
Class 31 – In Hand Hunter Pony/Horse. Horse/pony any height and age.
Class 32 – In Hand Veterans 15 – 19 Year Olds. Horse/pony any height and open to all breeds
Class 33 – In Hand Veterans 20 Years Plus. Horse/pony any height and open to all breeds.

Class 73 – Tiny Tots Working Hunter. Open to any breed. Pony max height 138cm. Rider to be 12 and under. Jump max height 40cm cross poles
Class 74 – Novice pony or horse working hunter. Jump Mac height 50cm. Open to any breed/height. Rider any age.
Class 75 – Junior Rider Working Hunter. Jump max height 50cm. Rider to be 13 – 18 years. Open to any breed
Class 76– Plaited Working hunter 50cm. Rider any age. Juniors and seniors placed separately. Open to any breed and height
Class 77 – Non-Plaited Working hunter 50cm. Rider any age. Juniors and seniors placed separately. Open to any breed and height
Class 78 – Plaited Working hunter 60cm. Rider any age. Juniors and seniors placed separately. Open to any breed and height
